Environmental Impact Assessment
The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report for the Rosia Montana Project was developed by a team of independent experts. The report analyzes all the aspects of the gold and silver mining project from Rosia Montana, from the construction phase, going through the operational phase, mine closure and environmental rehabilitation, to the post-closure phase. This document is accessible for all interested stakeholders and was submitted for public debate, according to legal requirements.
This chapter offers information about the project owner, the certified authors of the environmental impact assessment, an overall description of the project and its phases (pre-construction, construction, operation and closure), raw materials and chemical substances or preparations used in the project.
This chapter describes and analyzes the potential impact of the mining project on environmental factors, including its cross-border impact and proposed mitigation measures.
This section presents the potential impacts on surface and underground waters which could be generated if the Rosia Montana Project is implemented. This chapter also explains the safety measures that RMGC will take to maintain water quality in the project area.
Baseline Reports
This section presents details of the project phases and their potential impact on air quality. It also presents the measures to be taken by RMGC to minimize project impact on air quality.
The following paragraphs present general information about the noise and vibrations generated by the Project activities, as well as the legal requirements, sources and potential categories of impact associated with the construction, operation and closure phases of the Rosia Montana Project.
This section describes in detail the types of soil in the Project area and the measures aimed at preventing soil degradation, as well as the soil rehabilitation and reclamation activities that will take place throughout the operational phase.
This section describes the initial geological conditions for the Rosia Montana Projct, the regional and local geological characteristics and specificities of the Project site.
This chapter makes an inventory of the flora and fauna in the Rosia Montana area, and presents the measures that RMGC will adopt in order to protect biodiversity in the project impact area.

MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PLANS
The transport of equipment in the project area will take place in conditions of maximum safety, for which RMGC shall take all necessary measures.
The documents contains the 5,600 + questions received from the public during the public debates held in August – September 2006, as well as RMGC’s answers to each of the questions.
